Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 – October 15 in which the people of the United States honor the achievements of Hispanics. Hispanic Heritage Month coincides with the celebrations of Independence Day in many Latin American countries—including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua (September 15), Mexico (September 16), and Chile (September 18).
At Aldine Ninth, we celebrated throughout the month. Everyday during morning announcements we highlighted various famous Hispanic Americans. On social media we highlighted some of our own students and staff representing their culture. Our ILS created a book display with quality books written by Hispanic authors that featured Hispanic characters. We also hosted a Spirit Week and a Lotería Game Night for staff and students. Our celebrations culminated with a lunchtime performance organized by Ms. Ponce.
