Happy Black History Month! To celebrate the month as a campus, students will learn about different facts and topics related to Black History Month and the national theme focusing on Black Health & Wellness.
Every Thursday, there will be thematic dress-up days throughout the month. Students MUST still follow the Aldine ISD dress code if they are participating in dress-up days. Attached is a copy of the flyer and it will also be displayed in classrooms.
For weeks 2 and 3, these are great opportunities to learn more about what an HBCU is and its significance in Black communities as well as to share examples of our own individual cultures.
Week 1, February 3: Black Pop Culture – Students pay homage to Black culture by wearing shirts, shoes, and hoodies featuring people or symbols in Black music culture.
Week 2, February 10: HBCU Shirt Day – Wear the colors of a historically Black college or university or wear a HBCU shirt.
Week 3, February 17: Culture Shock – Dress in a way that represents your culture.
Week 4, February 24: Strength in Solidarity – Students wear all black in remembrance of those who fought, suffered, sacrificed and died for the right to vote.
