During Hispanic Heritage Month, students had the opportunity to participate in several activities. We had a spirit week where we highlighted Hispanic figures and countries. Teachers were asked to nominate students to a celebration where they were able to sample various foods from several countries. Culinary Arts students helped prepare and serve the dishes. Students were also invited to the library to learn more about the 20 Hispanic countries we celebrate through a research project. Then they participated in a game of Loteria, but instead of the traditional images on a Loteria game, these cards had images of various people, places, food, and items significant to Hispanic countries. Overall, the students learned more about new countries and the contributions to our American society.
Teachers were also treated to some pan dulce, pastries, and coffee provided by ILS Ms. Ramirez, and Principal Dr. Calderon.
